My Bloody Valentine Announce Live Dates

My Bloody Valentine Announce Live Dates

Cult rockers My Bloody Valentine will play their first live gigs in 16 years when they take to the stage in the summer of 2008. Kevin Shields’ British group revealed their tour plans on Thursday, one week after announcing their reunion. The rock icons, which are planning to release a new album before the end of this year, will play gigs in London, Manchester and Glasgow in June and July. The group last played live in 1992, and have been inactive since 1995. They have also been linked to the 2008 Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in California.

Shotter’s Nation - BABYSHAMBLES

Shotter's Nation - BABYSHAMBLES

It has been quite some time since the music of Babyshambles leader Pete Doherty received more notoriety than his drug arrests. That won’t change with “Shotter’s Nation,” though there are a few instances where the songs manage to make the listener forget about the court appearances and remember Doherty’s uniquely skewered way around a guitar line and lyric.

Though there’s nothing here that reaches the highs of Doherty’s work with the Libertines, opener “Carry On Up the Morning” comes close, with its ramshackle guitar opening and the singer’s apparent perspective on his nebulous public persona. But too often the songs sound like half-baked fragments (”Side of the Road”) or third-rate Beatles outtakes (”Crumb Begging Baghead”). Here’s hoping Doherty can overcome his problems and return his focus to songwriting.

New Chili Pepper

anthony-kiedis-rhcp.jpg

Red Hot Chili Peppers’ front man Anthony Kiedis is taking on a new role. The role of a proud father!

The rocker and his girlfriend, model Heather Christie, welcomed a baby boy at a Los Angeles hospital on Tuesday morning. This is the first child for either of the two. I’m sure the two are over the moon with the new arrival.

Congrats goes to the new parents!

I have to wonder though, would the kid grow up as a rocker or a model? Ooh! Maybe he’ll end up as a hippie. It’s kind of like a cross of both.

Kanye is Number One

blog4-kanye-west.jpg

Kanye West is really rubbing it in 50 Cent’s face. Not only does Kanye have the number one album and the number one single on the charts, he actually has a second single within the top five!

His first single off his latest album climbed back up to #1 this week. His second single ‘Good Life’ is currently sitting at #4 behind 50 Cent’s collaboration with Justin Timberlake and Timbaland ‘Ayo Technology’.

Soulja Boy’s ‘Crank That’, Timbaland’s ‘The Way I Are’, Matchbox Twenty’s ‘How Far We’ve Come’, Caillat’s ‘Colbie Bubbly’, Nickelback’s ‘Rockstar’, Alicia Keys’ ‘No One’ and Maroon 5’s ‘Wake Up Call’ make up the rest of the top 10.
